Are the Plextor 2410A the same as the Acer 2410A??

Was that deja.com or Grimm's Fairy Tales? :) Plextor makes plextors.......I think Acer makes their own drives they don't use rebadge plextors. Nice if they did, cause maybe the plextor/acer if it existed would be cheaper....:)

Acer = Benq
but =/= AOpen

Benq is Acer's new name.

AOpen is under Acer group, but AOpen's product has different spec, pricing, target market than Acer's.
AOpen's product is targeted to system builder/integrator channel while Benq's product is targeted to retail/end-user channel.

Just take the cd-rom for example, for 52x, AOpen's has faster seek time in spec, higher price than Acer's.

like heaven and earth. both quality and price!

for Acer, until today, u can get it at around $70
for Plextor, i dare not to ask.... must be around $130
