Are the Plextor 2410A the same as the Acer 2410A??

Was that deja.com or Grimm's Fairy Tales? Plextor makes plextors.......I think Acer makes their own drives they don't use rebadge plextors. Nice if they did, cause maybe the plextor/acer if it existed would be cheaper....

Acer = Benq
but =/= AOpen

Benq is Acer's new name.

AOpen is under Acer group, but AOpen's product has different spec, pricing, target market than Acer's.
AOpen's product is targeted to system builder/integrator channel while Benq's product is targeted to retail/end-user channel.

Just take the cd-rom for example, for 52x, AOpen's has faster seek time in spec, higher price than Acer's.

for Acer, until today, u can get it at around $70
for Plextor, i dare not to ask.... must be around $130
