Are the panaflo's that much quieter than the fans that come w/ the SX830?

The SX830 is a pretty open design, and even with 1 intake and 1 outtake its kinda loud (OEM fans that comes w/ it, antecs). Would getting Panaflo's make it that much quieter?

The L1A panaflos are definitely quieter, they also move less air. I strongly suspect that 4 panaflos would be quieter than the 2 stock fans while moving more air. Pure conjecture on my part.

Might try putting both fans in the back blowing out, or running them at 7v, or both. Lots of threads here and at Ars on fans at 7v.

The default/standard antec sx830/1030 fan is a 24db/24cfm fan. The panaflo L1a should not be that much quiter than they are.

Dunno, Mikewarrior2, buy I'm sure that the stock fans are louder than silencers, which seem to be on a par with the L1A panaflos. Don't have any panaflos on hand at the moment for a direct comparison, though.

There's always the issue of one manufacturer's ratings not matching up to another's.....

I've been all over the Antec site trying to find a spec on the fans in question, DF1208SL, without any luck. Where did you find that spec, anyway? Just nice to know. Thanks.

That could be the case. In my experience, the Silencer's are not as quiet as they claim to be. Still quieter than Panaflo's, but not by much.

P.S. I found out the fan info from the AntecCSR people who come to the forums. 😉
It isn't the same fan as the one they sell(that's a sunon fan, rebadged as an antec).
