Actually, there was a big brouhaha about this in the last few months. Since the time difference is so great between North America and Australia, it was assumed that the Sydney website would be the first place a person could go to for up-to-the-minute results.

But, in fact, they've decided in the interest of preserving the value of the TV rights to the Games, the website will be updated after the events are shown in North America, nixing the chance of any live broadcasts. Got to love progress.

Well, it seems all the local broadcasters here are holding out for paying customers, and aren't putting any webcasts up at all. Not even the ABC, a government owned non-profit broadcaster will be rebroadcasting their radio coverage of the games on the web. So your best bet may be services within the US. However, it might be an idea to keep an eye on http://www.olympics.com.au (television broadcaster) & http://www.abc.net.au/olympics/ anyway.

As far as I know NO audio or video will be broadcast at all over the Internet. The IOC was pressured by the companies that paid rights to broadcast them on TV not to allow Internet broadcast. In the US, NBC has decided to only broadcast during primetime, however if you have access to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) you can watch their coverage live.
