Are the New 533hz Boards Worth Waiting for?

Tho the answer seems obvious, please let me briefly explain my question.

I have no plans to use the new cpu that will be released to take advantage of the 533hz, as it will be too expensive. I plan on using the P4-2.0, or 2.2.

The only reason I have put off building my new pc is hoping the new 533hz boards will have that dual RAM channel I heard about, which would effectively @double the bandwidth of the DDR ram, surpassing what one could get with 800 rrdram. Now, I'm not even certain that is a feature that will be on the new boards in May.

Given the above; is there really any reason for me to wait ?

Thank you in advance.

SiS have 533 mhz now 😉 and some review said it's a good one. And i think u don't have to wait, it's available now. 😉

Of course, Intel's 533 chipsets are coming so soon you would probably end up really dissapointed you didnt wait.

These types of boards shouldnt be out until the second half of this year. I believe they are called Granite Bay Chipsets. It's already hit the server market.

Sample exhibition start of unpublished i845g/ic845gl tip/chip set on-board mother

For Pentium 4 before the proper form announcing the exhibition of the Socket 478 motherboard which loads the i845g/ic845gl of Intel make new model tip/chip set was executed with the part shop. As for exhibition shop with face Akihabara main office, as for product " P4B533-VM " of ASUS make (i845g) with " P4BGL-VM " (ic845gl) 2 types. Also both products have adopted the microcAtx form factor. Arrival schedule time at the same store you call the May middle.
In the similar product, with the ?Õ and others ?Á and the foam/home it comes with the Intel 845g apparently in the January last third and although there is a result where the LITE-ON make " NR120 " which loads tip/chip set is displayed, it is displayed it can call the motherboard which loads unpublished Intel make tip/chip set generally the unusual case with the shop shop front.

CecBit 2002 and as for main feature of both tip/chip set which in the event of the foreign country such as Intel Developer Forum Spring 2002 and the like is made clear, besides the fact that VGA function is built in to the MCH which hits to the NorthBridge, in the point and the like where the ICH4 which builds in the USB 2.0 controller to the ICH which hits to the SouthBridge is adopted, as for correspondence CPU the i845g 533mHz edition Pentium 4, the ic845gl is made current 400MHz edition Pentium 4.

As for both products which this time are displayed really, because the heat sink is installed on the MCH tip/chip, it cannot do immediately to view to, but the ICH tip/chip has entered bare state, it is thought as the ICH4 of new model, the type turn, " FW82801DB " you can verify that the marking it is done. Being calling before the proper form announcing, also letter " of the SECRET " is recorded with respect to the type turn.

In addition, very the many functions that it has become the motherboard, also both products the VGA output connector, equip 4 USB ports and the LAN connector et cetera, but that it becomes matter of concern, it was written on the seal which is pasted in the case letter " of the ATA66 ". The current ICH2 supports Ultra ATA/100 interface, it is difficult to think from that for the ICH4 which becomes new model to support to only the Ultra ATA/66, it is thought mere print mistake it is something, but it is the description which becomes matter of concern.

As 533mHz edition Pentium 4 correspondence tip/chip set, although at the time this week the SicS645dx has decorated preceding debut, the i845g/ic845gl tip/chip set which this time is displayed was loaded both products " of P4B533-VM " " P4BGL-VM " and it is wrong and to become the existence which attracts many attention the motherboard by Intel genuine tip/chip set partly due it is improbable.

Furthermore, this exhibition was done 10 days (the water) from, but regrettable 12 days (the gold) it became end at point in time.

Well, it's not clear to me that 533mhz fsb cpu's will be too expensive
I've read several reports, including XBitlabs, suggesting that the price will not be much more, particularly for the 2.26ghz part

and the 2 price cuts in the next month is a decent reason to wait, even if you're going to go for the lower end procs..

Thank you for the responses.

I've been waiting over a month to build my new PC and am going NUTS waiting. I agree to build it now, when the new boards are so close to release is silly, but I'm living with a P2-450 cpu and the wait is killing me 😉

Anyone have any further news on when the new 533hz boards will be available; and the CPU to take advantage of it?

I didn't wait for the "official" 533 stuff. Didn't seem to hurt. I got this setup that is working just fine @ well over 533 FSB.

P4 1.6A retail
EPOX 4BDA2+
Samsung PC2700 (1 x 512 Meg)

I run it overclocked (duh) @ the following specs:

600 MHz FSB (150 x 4)
2.4 GHz
1.675 Vcore
400 MHz DDR (PC 3200)

Runs like a champ!
