Are the military helicopters active in your area right now?

This evening I was at CostCo with the wife buying a Panasonic DVD-RV22 DVD Player for $99.99

Heard helicopters overhead (Clackamas, Oregon) for about 5 minutes.

Just now in SE Portland, Oregon heard helicopters overhead for a few minutes.

Are they doing patrols or what?

Got fighter jets taking off about every 20min here & a helicopter every hour or so. All of which are flying REAL low (like if it were daylight I could read the writing on the plane w/ my naked eye low).

Yeah they are flying pretty low.

You'd think they'd be around the airport or around downtown Portland although SE Portland is only 5 miles from downtown.

we have helicopters but they are "tv station" helicopters..

we have a brush fire in our city so they are hovering in the same spot.

Well I am close to the airport where I am (Rochester, NY btw) so we see planes overhead all the time, but these are about 1/10th the altitude that they normally are.

My dad works at a nuke plant right on the Mississippi and the security is pretty stepped up there.

I saw three what I think were C130s (its dark, and I'm guesing by sound) very low, maybe 1500ft, make a steep left bank over my house, most likely headind towards Wilmington, DE (there's a 130 base there)...

ah.....there's a nuclear power plant semi-near here (this is the closest major airport). I bet that is the cause of the concern..... That or niagra falls (but wouldn't they come out of buffalo?)

I live near a naval air base and there has been a lot of activity in the air. Seems like planes just flying around.

BTW - who would want to attack Oregon? Maybe the terrorists are really misinformed

No. Then again, I live in Canada, every second in the air means cutting a corner somewhere else. I betchya our military is no more ready this September 11 as the last September 11. It'd probably take 20 minutes to 'scramble' one jet out of Cold Lake, Alberta, where a significant chunk of the air force is...

Military bases and airport are many miles away, so who knows what all these planes and choppers are protecting... Grateful for those who are being vigilant though :)

Does he work in sector 7G? Cause if he does, I might know him :)

But if your dad is the guy I think he is, and he's the safety guy...

RossMAN, they're probably on active alert for attacks both down in Salem, backup for a Seattle attack, and any sort of attack that would hit Portland itself. This is the equivilent of Halloween right now, except we're chasing terrorists instead of ghosts and goblins.;)

We've helicopters flying all over the place for the past year at home everyonce in a while. Moreso at work though(right b/t a hydro electric damn and nuclear power plant. I remember when there used to be a-10 warthogs flying over my house every day on training flights. Who knows why they were at an army base anyway...

I saw 4 fighter jets flying in formation on the way to work this morning in Denver, Colorado.
