running a bloated android system like touchwiz, sense, blur as opposed to running pure android like in the nexus franchise?

I keep hearing people bash the Android O.S, but I wonder if they are actually running pure Android as opposed to a bloated one.

I've run both and prefer touch wiz to pure. Pure android is just boring as shit. I also use next 3D on my s4 and note 3 so it's never been an issue.

What exactly are your reason for preferring touch wiz? What can touch wiz do that pure Android can't?

You are like the only one that actually prefer Touchwiz rather than pure.

Actually I prefer TouchWiz to pure as well.

I don't like all the things about it but I can mitigate the negatives and the positives outway them.

I prefer Nexus and minimal Android skin. All others have felt laggy to me (except HTC One). I have to say I hate TouchWiz the most. Motorola has done a great job in keeping stock android and optimization imo.

Add me to the list of people who prefer TouchWiz, multi window, Pen Window, Air view, and air command are all incredibly useful.

Well can you explain why you like touchwiz better than Pure?

Cameras better, I use a few of the little gimmicks (multi view, blocking mode, smart alert, etc) the calendars better (if more ugly). I find performance the same on the same iteration of the OS.

I dont dislike vanilla android but just for a few icons I don't see the point in losing the positives.

I like these features on my Note 8, they add value to the OS. My Nexus 7 2012 performs better though.

Moving from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 on the Note 8, TouchWiz did get significantly more bloated as well. We've all read the performance issues they've got on the Note 8 and Note 10 2014 as well, and those are even beefier SoCs than whats in the Note 8.

Wonder when Samsung will get around to refreshing the Note 8?

I root mine and use slim bean. The best feature of android is you have a lot of customizability, which lets you pick and choose roms that have features you want. Stock android is boring but very functional, but android prior to Jelly Bean is not very good in comparison. For stock roms from different carriers, I like TouchWiz the best. Multi-window is really nice.

I'd say that when you use manufacturer ROMs with carrier bloat that goes through update after update and more bloat, those phones tend to bog down and become really annoying to use.

I've used both on my S4 and am back to a Touchwiz based ROM (though very stripped and using Nova Pro launcher).

The calendar is MILES better, despite the nasty colors. Camera's noticeably better as well. I use a wallet case and Touchwiz automatically turns the screen on when I open up the wallet. Smart Stay is nice (screen stays on when you're looking at it).

Carrier bloat is nothing to do with stock or themed Android though.

Generally if you root the phone, you can remove a lot of the bloat. Verizon and Samsung's suite of stores and "navigation" and other crap comes to mind. My dad learned how to root his galaxy S3 just so he can install a slimmer roms.

You dont need to root to install a ROM.

Just put it into download mode, plug it into the PC via USB, fire up ODIN and click one button.

Pure Android is nice if you want to spend the time to set everything up the way you want it. I like using CM for the little various tweaks which make my phone a lot better to use...

With that said, Touchwiz actually incorporates a lot of those little things that make Samsung phones nice to use. I prefer Touchwiz over stock Android simply for the fact that I have to do very little out of the box. I'm tired of tweaking my phone left and right to eke every little bit out of it. Also, Touchwiz has a lot of software optimizations tailored specifically to the hardware of the phone, so if you have a Samsung phone you're always going to get better performance running Touchwiz over stock.

Running dual boot GPe/Sense 5 on my One. Zero lag on both, with the exception of rapid scrolling in lists. For some reason (probably just a fault of Android) on every single Android device I've seen or used, including my Nexus 7 (2013), scrolling on long lists is laggy, especially if has album art (in the case of Google Play Music) or is an app store (Google Play or Amazon Appstore, though they have gotten better lately).

Games or 3D benchmarks like Epic Citadel Android can handle just fine at 60 fps, but simple lists stutter? It's bizarre.

I use nova launcher on all my devices and can't recall a stability difference between my Nexus 4 and 7 vs. S3, N2 and N3. I don't mind TW since you can get rid of or disable most of the stuff you don't like.
