Are the Klipsch 5.1 really worth buying?

If you have money to burn, then the answer is yes. If you do not, then there are quite a few companies making 400w equivalent 4.1 and 5.1 speakers which will give Klipsch a good run.

Creative Labs
Acoustic Research
Logitech
Monsoon

Just to name a few 🙂

Thanks, dude.

I do have some money to spare. My idea was too forsake buying an elaborate stereo system w/ a surround speaker set and using my rig w/ a decent of speakers, hence the question. So I will keep researching and thanks again for the reply.

BTW..
How come I can't see a link to my System rig whenever I post a message.

Not a problem bro,

Are you speaking of using your computer for an all-around entertainment system?

TV
Movies
Stereo

If so, I would have you check out the Logitech Z560 and BA4800's. They are both great all around speakers. I have the Z560's and absoutely love them, I thought the Z560 sounded almost as good as the Klipsch which I demo'd at the same time.

Might want to check your profile for the problem with your system rig 🙂

get the klipsch man... don't skimp on the speakers. I have the original version 1.000-f*cking-ZERO 4.1's and they rock so farking hard, you just have no idea.

Always audition the speakers before you finalize the purchase. Some people do not like the sound of the klipsch horn because it sounds too 'bright'. Others may find the sound 'lively' and well suited for live music. The main strength that I find with the system is the sub. The klipsch 5.1 sub is much better than alot of other multimedia subs including the Z560 imo. It offers alot of depth and definition and is not boomy like the 4.1 counterpart. Also take a look at what you are going to use the speakers for. I would only buy a 5.1 system if you are big into movies. You can also check the forums over at 3DSS for more opinions on the system. Their review of the 5.1's just went up a couple of days ago so check that out.

I have the system with two subwoofers and four satelites, my ears bleed if I turn them up 1/4 turn.

Go with the Klipsch!!

Tack another vote up there for the Klipschmonsters! They rock !!! 😀

I got the Klipsch 5.1s the week they came out, i live in a dorm and my sub sits two feet from my head and all my satellites are about 4 feet away from my head. I played The Matrix on them the first day i got them and during the lobby shootout scene my sub started shaking across my desk and the walls and ceiling of my dorm room were rattling like there was a damned earthquake happening. After the scene got over, my ears hurt and my body was kindof numb from the vibration and ever since i've been addicted. I've heard just about every other set of multimedia computer speakers out there and none of them come near the power and quality of the Klipsch's. I turned the volume up to 60dB (yes, the volume control is in dB incriments) and played In The Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg and it was still as pure as any computer speaker system i've heard at any volume, even though i couldn't stand it it was so loud (since it was about 4 feet from my head). Go with the Klipsch's if you want the most ungodly loud and pure and body shaking bass for your computer.

about a year ago, i also wanted to get a good computer speakers.
i was looking into klipsch 4.1 and it was priced around $300... that wasnt soo bad, BUT with a little more money (i guess this is up to you) i could get much better sounding system for both the movies and music.

Specs

also go ahead and check out the suggestions given out by GOI, i've checked review and specs on them and they are indeed great! and amazing price!.
just use google.

i guess its all up to you and what you prefer, just listen to them alot before you make a decision.
good luck.

The 5.1's are very nice speakers, and if you have the money, then go for them. If you get a 4.1 setup instead, I would go with the Logitech z-560's. The subv with the klipsch 5.1 has slightly better and louder base than the 560's, but the logitech sub sounds a fair bit better than the sub with the 4.1 klipsch setup, and it has more power. IMHO, you can't really go wrong using any of the 3 setups I mentioned, they just all have different price tags

Klipsch 5.1 $400
Klipsch 4.1 $300
Logitech 560 $199 (can find it for $140 w/shipping online)

Hey Kirkles 0206,
I would suggest the Klipsch 5.1's. Klipsch is a high-end speaker company, meaning speakers is their specialty. Thats saying a lot more than most of its competitors. But the true test of well made purchase is long term. Speaker peformance, especially good speakers, can most often be subject to personal taste. So you should preview all the 5.1's competition first, then base your decision upon that. So basically you are your own best judge. chao😉
