Just curious. I know when the 5850/5870 came out it was impossible to get one. Now just browsing newegg I saw every brand 480 in stock. Are they not selling that well?

Well according to both NV and ATI, they are supply limited and are selling everything they can make. That might mean that they are selling to distributors ahead of schedule though, and distributors/retailers are holding the additional stock or something, but both companies are claiming that they are still supply constrained, even though there seems to be decent availability for end users.

Well over here we've had 236 gtx 470's and 56 gtx 480's sold since the first week of May.
The 5830 's been selling like crazy too though, with 150 units, go figure..? :)

I have the store owner sending me email, to keep me updated. He also stated he has never had a problem with supply since the first week.

And another he said is the gtx 465 is in his system at 259$ :),Not bad?

I'll get back to ya.... I never asked him. I'll send him mail. He did say before that the 5850 was slightly outselling the gtx 470 in April and not many 5870's are being sold.

And no I don't work at Fry's.

In Stock is a poor indicator of Sales. McDonalds always has Big Macs In Stock, yet Sell Millions/day.

how does each compare to the online prices?
If the AMD is the same as online price by the nvidia a lot higher then online price then it could skew the results. (however, that might not be the case at all, maybe people just don't want fermi; I wouldn't want something that loud and hot)

The prices (if you add inflation over here) are about the same except for the 480, which cost the same as a 5970.

The problem might be that in summer temps range from 30-35c and on really hot days touch 40c

Do they offer combined shipping and Mail in Rebates? Are some of them Opened Items? Can you overclock the Big Mac? :hmm:

Frys in Indiana had all of the 470s and 480s in stock yesterday. The 5870s were all OOS and there was an openbox 5850 for 5 dollars off.

anecdotal at best since I had no way of knowing when they were replenished or when the current stock had sold etc....

Apparently the GTX470 is doing well.
Was just looking at one of the biggest webshops in .nl:
http://www.salland.eu/category/42/videokaarten.html
At the bottom, you see their five most sold products (Meest verkocht) in the videocard category... currently those are the Radeon 4550, GTX470, GTX260 and Radeon 5830... and some aftermarket cooler.

Do you know what the power requirements are for those? 3-4 thousand calories?

OH SNAP~!
also, kilocalories :p ("food calories" are like women clothes size, a lie. To convert from "food calories" to real calories multiply by 1000)

btw... real men use metric.
so that is 12552 to 16736 Joules

I looked at the top selling cards on Amazon, which must represent a fairly broad section of the "graphic card buying" U.S. public. Going by the "top 100" and the "number of days in the top 100," the hot card is the 5770, but the 470 and even the 480 make decent showings.

The downside surprise is the 5870, which only makes one appearance in the top 100 at 43. The conventional wisdom around here is they can't make enough 5870(s) despite widely available stock, but the Amazon list doesn't show it. The 5850(s) on the other hand are well-represented in the list.
