are the generic canon batteries all the same?

I want to buy extra batteries for the 450D XSi. I see a bunch on ebay for dirt cheap. are they all the same? are there better generic batteries that I should look for? thanks
 
Some are better than others, but as was said, I have not found a 3rd party battery as good as the Canon product. I have had 4 Canon DSLRs, a D60, a 20D, and two 5Ds. All use the BP-511A battery. I have given away all the generics.
 
SterlingTek. I had one defective one that lasted only a couple of months. They promptly sent a new one. The rest of them have been holding up fine for a year and a half.
