Are the Extra Hardware USB headers that come with some mobo's universal?

If the mobo in question is less than 2 yrs old, yes they are universal. They come with a 4 pin header and orientation of the cable connector is the same as IDE and FD cable, i.e. pin1 is to the striped wire.
