Are the Canon SD400 pictures the same quality as S410 pictures?

It seems liek the SD500 is at least as good, while being much smaller in size.

And much more expenseive...I'm hoping the SD's will come down in price over the next few months.

From the research I've done, the S410 takes better pictures overall, especially in low-light conditions. They're both good cameras though.

The S410 is small enough to carry everywhere.
Sure, the SD is even smaller, but once they have the size down to the S410,
I would rather see Quality increase rather than size decreace.

I have seen the picturs, and the S410 are slightly better - However, the SD500 may be beter than either.

Digic II > Digic I

Digic II > Digic I
But, that is really just how fast it takes pictures - the quality is not changed is it?

i've heard the sd500 isn't up to canon's high standards... so much crammed into that tiny sensor. And IMO, the s4xx are still too big for the pocket. Just slightly. The weight is more of an issue for me. I love my SD200. Keep in mind the sd500 is bigger than the other SD2/3/400 as well..

Well, its the image processor...but it main different between the Digic I and II is speed. The SD400 also has a different lens but take higher resolution photos. I personally would get the SD400 over the 410 unless the price gap was huge.

DCPR?

Higher resolution is not always better, but when you have a better image processor with a better lens...more resolution justs adds to the advantages.

I think it is much more complicated.
The cameras have differnt lens - I am not sur eone is "better" than the other
Generally larger sensors are better than smaller sensors
If resolution is increased and sensor size is the same, you can end up with worse quality and more noise.

the s410 has a better lens, and possibly better sensor, becuase of the bigger size. however, the sd400 sensor is newer. digic 2 does not do much for image quality - it mainly improves on speed and video capabilities.

one thing that you can see, if you look at the sd400/sd200/sd300 images, you will notice that the corners and edges of the image are not very sharp. the s410 will be sharper in the corners and likely the same or better in the middle.

I think the SD500 may have the largest sensor.

In the SD200, SD300, and the new SD400, the CCD is 1/2.5" in size.
But the 7.1 Megapixel sensor used in the SD500, and also used in the PowerShot G6 and S70 -- is physically larger (1/1.8"),
