Anyways, does anyone know the brand of hsf on the athlonxp1900+ retail? I can probably run that thing for 3 years at default clock safely right?

Most of the retail hsf's are branded coolermaster. You should be fine running the chip for 3 years. In fact, you should be able to run it longer than that. The xp's I've seen with a retail hsf usually run from 55-65 degrees. Thats getting up there compared to a decent aftermarket hsf, but its still plenty cool to keep the cpu running.

Yeah they are all the same except between different speeds the higher speed xp's need better hsf. I personally don't think the athlon hsf is a good investment. Spend a bit on a decent hsf and then overclock a bit to help pay for the cost of the hsf. I personally like Intel's hsf better cause with it you can oveclock quite well right outta the box.
