Are the Astronauts families going to be taken care of????

are those astronauts insured? they are all old peeps with families. 13 children will lose a parent. a low paid parent at that, from what i remember 50-80k or so. not ultra low but not really a drop of what they deserved. is there a government program to help these families? or are they going to be treated worse then 9/11 people who got decent support.

i mean really, these astronauts have a riskier job then even many branches of the armed services. 1 in 75 chance u gonna die.

Just kinda got me wondering, can an Astronaut or other people in just as risky or more occupations even get life insurance? I think those guys who work on crab boats are said to be the most dangerous jobs in the world, several ships sink every year into the icey depths. 🙁

All of the armed services have life insurance policies as well as dependant benefits. They will all do OK.

I think the average for Alaska fishermen is 1 death for every 2 weeks or so. If you go overboard up there you have only a few minutes at best to get retrieved or you are history. Pretty sad, especially when you think this is not a job everyone WANTS like the Astranauts, and lots less pay and adventure to boot

you can't be sure. challenger families had to depend on a private charity fund.

life insurance will be paid out. After that they are on their own more or less.Unless nasa/private donation decided to go above and beyound. Otherwise if they don't get that then after life support money is gone they will have to relly on their own income.
