Are the Arctic Silencers backwards compatible?

Hi,

I have a 9500pro and want to upgrade the cooling. I want to buy one of the new Arctic silencers but I need to know that I will be able to use one say designed for an X800 (rev 4 I think).

So will it work on my card?

I dont think so, since the new versions seem to explicitely say which cards they support. The older version was like a one size fits all, but the newer ones seem card specific.

For an X800 you would use this

You can't use one for the other as the PCBs are layed out different.

Thanks, I hoped I could use it now and later when I upgrade since they are not sold here in South Africa.

Buy the current AC Rev 3 model. At SVC with coupon its only $10, and it works with just about anything below a 9800XT. Then when you upgrade, get the newer version, which will certainly be cheaper than it is now.
