Are the AM2 3800 Single Core Like the Opteron ==>

i heard, probably here, that the Opteron uses a different silicon process, and that the Opteron's OC better ... and i don't know the exact technical reason.

from the reviews for the 3800 single core am2 *** for $146 ?!

it sounds like they have serious OC'ing potential. guy is claiming 2900 + MHz and i believe him.

... though maybe some of that OC'ing performance is from the RAM ?

wonder if they'll come out with AM2 opteron's that will OC even better ...

It has been shown the AM2 parts generally OC better than their s939 counterparts, but nothing is a certainty with overclocking. It would also be a good idea to wait until after any potential AMD price cuts at the end of the month.

Lastly, as much as I like Newegg, their customer reviews should be taken with a grain of salt.

If you're looking for an AM2 3800+, try to hunt down one of the 65W or 35W parts after the big price cut.

What the heck? AMD is gonna do a price cut on the Energy Efficient processors too!?! Holy Schick!

As most of you guys know, lower voltage = lower heat = better overclock = better performance = better bang for buck. Just for those who don't know.

I'm have my 3500+ AM2 at 2.9ghz. It's a very nice overclock, but I'm sure ram still has a big part to do with it.

Seems as such, yes. I'm still interested in knowing what the 35W X2 3800+ can do. It has a default voltage of 1.02v or something silly like that. The 65W procs have a default vcore of 1.2v.

Probably not. They might do a price-cut on s940 Opterons after Socket F launches.
