So I'm on my way out and the phone rings. Being in a hurry I pick up the phone without checking the caller ID. This lady in a thick indian accent asks me if I'd like to sign up for something, don't even remember what. Now, being from an immigrant family myself I have nothing against people talking with an accent. The funny thing however, she must've lost her concentration for a second so she started talking to me in indian but then quickly checked herself and switched to english.

Anyways, has anyone ever heard of this? IMO this is ridiculous, as if there aren't enough telemarkerters as it is, they need more from a country with a population of 1 billion.

What I'm wondering is, will the telemarketers that outsource to India be able to get around the do not call registry?

Short answer. Yes they will. But that's only if they call direct from India. (Which they won't)> If the calls are routed thorugh a phone junction in the US, then they cannot get out of it. :)

I'd think that if the company is north american based than it shouldnt effect the do not call list. They'd still have to oblige
