Are Tekram RAID controller any good?

TEKRAM ULTR ATA 100 DC-200 RAID CONTROLLER is the one I'm talking about. I'm planning on using it to RAID my 2 WD hard drive in an XP system. Anyone had experience with these? What are the speeds compared with normal IDE?

why not go with the 3ware 7000 series cards ? I haven't heard much about their RAID stuff, but Tekram has pretty good low-end scsi controller stuff, budget kind .. 3ware seems to be the defacto standard for ide raid .. just my thoughts .. if you just want 2 channel RAID0 the 7210 can be had at hypermicro.com for $135 (don't forget to mention Storagereview.com in the order for free shipping)

Heheh. . . $135. . . I was thinking more along the price range of $20-$60. The Tekram can be had for just a mere $25+ship at newegg. I guess I can buy it and find out if it's any good huh?

ya at 60$ its worth a shot .. the reason the 3ware is gonna cost that much is due to the fact it has an onboard processor, the i960 I think .. so it's more closely considered "hardware raid" .. but you may not even notice the performance difference between the two, so save some money=)
