Are t-shirts with pockets on them that out of style?

Trying to find a place online that does custom tees so I can make a shirt for my Dad for Christmas. Only, he pretty much prefers shirts that have a pocket on the chest so he can put pens, cigs, and whatever else in there. Places like CafePress don't have pocket tees.

Anyways, everytime something breaks or comes undone around my parent's or sister's house my nephew says "Papa Fix It". I was going to put an image of something like a wrench and a screwdriver making an "X" with the words "Papa Fix It" around that.

Anyone seen a custom tee place that has t-shirts with pockets?

<------big fan of the T-shirt with pocket. I guess they are kind of hard to find these days. Works great for cigarettes.

They look kind of funny to begin with, but when you add the majority of people who wear them filling them with 3 pounds of crap, they just look ridiculous.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone put anything in a t-shirt pocket but a pack of cigarettes. I don't smoke, so I don't usually put anything in mine, but I kinda like having them for some reason.

I guess I'm at a loss to see how they look "kind of funny" - I don't think I'd ever notice one way or the other, and the pocket adds a measure of utility that I like.

If you think about it, it is kinda funny but most people don't notice or really care.

Yeah, function follows form... as usual.

I also prefer a friggin pocket, because I use the stupid thing! A pen and note paper belongs right there for crying out loud!

The reason T-shirt printers don't carry them generally, is because the pocket gets in the way, and they can't print (silkscreen) over that uneven area.

Yeah, but I want the design to be on the pocket. That way the little family in-joke is there but not in a big obnoxious way where my Dad won't wear it. My Dad is the kind of person that won't wear a shirt that has designer labels or whatever all over it unless it is an Auburn shirt. Very plain and utilitarian...that's my pops.

My dad was always a *huge* fan of pocketed, plain t-shirts. He keeps his cigs and lighter in it. It also make xmas shopping for him very easy (as long as you stick to grey/black/navy.) ;)

Myself, I dont' smoke, but I have about an equal number of pocketed and unpocketed t-shirts. How the hell can one be "out of style" with a solid color tshirt?

You mean to tell me that you've never seen one of those old men with like 6 pens/pencils, reading glasses, cigarettes, lighter, gum/mints, etc all stuffed in their front pocket, the stitches just straining at the stress, ready to put someone's eye out with pocket shrapnel when the stitch gives way?

I wear t-shirts with pockets on them at work. I don't put smokes in there (don't smoke) but I do put tweakers, pens, and a notepad in there. The convenience of that pocket rivals that of my old school leatherman wave. :p
