Are some dogs born mean no matter how they were raised?

Pitbuls, Doberman, Rottwielers, etc.

Do you think they are more prone to bite than other breads?

Personally, I think it's how their owners have raised them. My exgf had a rott cross and it was the most loveable aninmal ever. I used to play really rough with em and I never once heard a single growl or snarl. I also have friends with Pitbulls and they seem to be great dogs, even around kids.

So what do you think?

Yes but I wouldn't go so much by breed. Just like people some dogs just have a bad personality and the breed really doesn't matter. I have been bit by a boxer and a doberman but the meanest dog I have ever meet was a damn cocker spaniel. I don't know how that dog didn't get put to sleep. The thing must have bit 20 different people including me and some got it more than once.

I've never met a mean pitbull.

I've had contact with about 10-15 pitbulls in my life, and every one has been exceptionally nice.

I have come the the conclusion (after doing some reading as well), that pitbulls are not born mean but are trained that way.

Part of the reason is that they are really stupid for the most part, so it is easy to make them mean.

Some breeds are more agressive than others (German Shepherds, Dobermens, etc.), but that doesn't automatically make them mean. Most times if a dog is "mean" it is the ownere fault.

Some dogs have more fiery tempers, like Chow Chows.

Dogs traditionally known for their aggressive behavior - ie pitbulls, rottweilers, etc.. are normally fairly docile, they are just better fighters and thus trained for such a purpose.

One of my neighbour's rott chase both my dogs (one spaniel and shih-tzu mix and the other a miniature pincsher) for quite a while after scaring the cr@p outta my mum as she was taking them for a walk. Thankfully my mum let both my dogs loose as they ran like crazy for shelter and the rott didn't hurt her. What's worse, this stupid neighbour doesn't realize that sometimes her dog runs loose on the road. Stupid f$#ks...

Neway, to answer your question, IMO it doesn't matter which breed a dog is to be mean. And it's usually how the dog is brought up (similar to humans) that determines its behaviour. Try placing the dog at home all the time w/o any walks. I'm sure it'll be crazy.

Bull Mastiff is a mean dog. And if you train it well, it can be freakingly mean.

I have 4 rottweilers myself. They are cute. But buyers of any kind of dogs beware. There are unscrupulous breeders who would not take care of their dogs and their resultant progeny turns out to have attitude problems. I wouldnt say they are exactly mean, its just that they become extremely hard to train.
