Are sliding phones easy to break?

I break phones easily (with vengence :)) but I'll try to be more careful if I buy a NICE one. Still, are the sliding phones like D900 Samsung easier to damage b/c the screen and some buttons aren't covered/protected? Dust and moisture gets in, etc...

first-hand experience preferable

I don't have first hand experience, but I would think that if you got sand into it... the sliding action would be gritty... and abrasive... and bad...

Had my Sammy T-809 for almost half a year now and it still has a good slide to it, but yeah, don't get sand into it and you should be fine heh.

Good buddy of mine has one. He had an older model (dont know which one) and he liked it so much he got the D900. It can take a beating, while riding in the golf cart he went over a bridge and the phone jumped out of his pocket and hit the cartpath, only sufferd a small scratch. I like how you can slide it open with one hand, very handy.
