I have privacy concerns with regards to Skype calls

Are they traced / monitored? and if so, by who? by Skype or can governments also listen to them?

Yes, there's a backdoor built in. If you're concerned about privacy, you don't use Skype.

A recent case in Norway used a Guys Skype Calls and Messages against him in court. Its a 100% monitored and logged service.

If you have to ask the question, then it means it could be, even if it's not. Best to setup your own voip server or other system that you are in full control of, if privacy is an issue.

thanks for the info bro.

At least some people here give some informative answers.

This concern was not mine really it was for a friend who happens to be a lawyer and cares about the sensitivity of his calls.

I just do regular chats with friends and could care less if my calls were traced.

So to the muppets above saying I live in Dubai and I am a terrorist, I've just added you to my ignore list. so don't ever comment on any threads I make

The Chinese version of Skype is known to have government snooping built in.

Even if the non-Chinese version doesn't (who knows?), I still wouldn't trust it much.

Actually any traffic through the air can be intercepted. Traced is another matter. I recall back in the 80s when I was working, we were in Washingtonj, DC area in a hotel. We were selling a high speed scanner used by law enforcement in Germany. We could rapidly scan all bands and find signals - then simply listen in. I'm talking normal cell phone traffic. It was more fun than TV!

The lesson I learned from that was all wirelsss communications can be intercepted, even frequency hoppers. There really is only one defense and that is encryption, and even that can be compromised. Burst transmissions can also help - but that is not part of the Twitter world. :)

For encryption to be trusted the user has to control the encryption, not a corporation or the government. The best you can get from others are promises, and promises are easy to break, especially when they're indemnified from prosecution.

You can get info how airplanes are flying all over the World:

someone even wonder if phone calls can be private....

Next step...after you get that "flu shot" in CVS, you might be able to see your real-time movements on Google....

Yes, Skype's own policy states they log conversations. Which is pretty stupid imo since Skype is a peer to peer protocol. It only connects through nodes to know where its going (my guess this is where Skype logs data).

It's already trivial to track people using cell phones. No need for batshit vaccine tracker ideas.
