Are skinny jeans just tight jeans?

Technically yes, but they are for a certain body type. A person with huge legs that gets normal jeans that makes them fit very tightly, isn't wearing skinny jeans.

Skinny jeans are worn by hipsters with little lower body mass.

They're jeans with less room in them. They're to accentuate the frailty and lack of muscle mass prevalent in some portions of the population.

It's a mystery to me why anyone would want to do that though. I'd be just as likely to draw a circle around a double chin or distended gut as I would advertise the fact that I have weak legs and no ass.

I can never wear them since any time I start doing squats my legs grow very quickly.

A lot of my fitted slacks have become skinny slacks as soon as I do legs..

If you took the average kid that went to Woodstock and put him/her in skinny jeans they'd probably think they were too baggy. The jeans they wore back then would be considered really skinny jeans.

So, in truth today's skinny jeans aren't so much skinny as we're fucking fat!

actually is another marketing miracle . Less fabric for more money . Like the sport or half sock . Genius . Half a sock at twice the price and sheeple can't buy them fast enough .

Skinny jeans tend to be made with different materials to normal jeans in order to have a bit of stretchiness to them (though those materials might be cheaper than pure denim).

My wife likes me wearing skinny jeans.

In my experience skinny jeans are tighter than normal jeans (or "form fitting" if you prefer that wording). I've tried on a pair once that were meant to be my size but felt like they required a crowbar to get in to. My wife liked them very much but I vetoed them on my personal principle that clothing should not be uncomfortable, ever.

Skinny jeans are womens jeans sold to men. You should have your Man Card revoked for wearing that crap.

I can't wait for the 80's nostalgia to be over so the hipsters move to the 90's. My baggy jeans are ready.

As a few others have said, it's a different cut rather than just being "tighter." I try to buy my jeans, or pants like these American Eagle ones, in the skinny cut cause they just fit better for me. I've always been and currently am slender, so they just fit better for me.

less material but a much more tailored cut

i'd say it's worth it, fitted jeans look MUCH better than loose fitting with all that extra material flapping around
