Are singers really this inept?

So was watchin the new southpark just now (recorded it) and theres this lady Wing on it who is the wife of the City Wok dood. Wing it turns out is a REAL preformer and has released CD's of covers of a few popular songs. It just they sound like CRAP (from the tracks u can listen to), i mean its funny kinda like the whole William Hung phenomenon, but even he didnt think it was all about making fun of him...even southpark was making fun of this lady and yet she posts the "accomplishment" on her website.

Are all singers really this inept???

I used to generalize like this about mexican music. Then the other day we installed a system in this kid's car and he had some really good mexican rap. Now I don't really like rap, and I thought I didn't like mexican music, but this was good. We sat there and listened to 3 or 4 songs. Good stuff.

Thats not my generalization at all actually (theres some asian music i actually listen to thats good...when in native language a lot of songs sounds a helluva lot better)...its more that they will go on shows like american idol and south park and be made fun of and yet take it as a great opportunity...thats the ineptitude i question...

i don't doubt it does sound awful, even without listening. but that really wasn't the point before the edit.

I like many different kinds of music. There is crap in every genre but I haven't heard any Asian pop music that sounds good to me. The only good artists I've heard from that part of the world are classical artists like Yo Yo Ma. There are many gifted classical performers but their pop music sounds like ass to me.

Are you talking about orientalism? There is also a lot of condescending admiration for another culture's "exotic" nature involved with the term.
