Are Sager Laptops any good?

For the most part yes. Most of them along with Voodoo and Alienware are made by an ODM called Clevo. Clevo is a decent ODM. What model are you looking at?
 
Good stuff, not light or cool or small or long of battery life generally, but fast and well made.
I have a 5660, very happy with it.

This sums it up perfectly, I have a Eurocom D500P, also a Clevo based notebook, I love it very much...especially the M10 video.
