Are s478 boards *officially* off the market?

Hi all,

My bosses (in all their infinite wisdom) insist on sticking with s478 Intel's. I've been telling them for the past two months that the CPUs/boards are going to be damn near impossible to find and have given them several reports on upgrade options, but they're still "thinking" and want me to buy more of the old stuff :| So anyway, here's my dilemma:

We use the ASUS P4P800-SE board. I cannot find them anywhere -- I even contacted Asus directly and they provided me the price of $114 + S&H costs. We used to pay like $90~$100 for them, this price is too much, so I've been instructed to find a compatible s478 board that can support a 3.2GHz Northwood CPU, DDR memory, and has an AGP8x slot. O ya, it MUST be ATX also.

I feel like all my efforts are going to be in vain, especially after Core 2 Duo hit last week, I really doubt anybody is making s478 mobo's anymore. But if anybody can help me out, please tell me what board I can buy now. 🙂

crunk the numbers for cost between s478 and newer tech boards ...

show him that it will be cheaper and you get a faster system then the s478 route..

if he still insist on s478 let it be...

I don't know what his excuse is, but he hasn't "made an official decision" yet, and until that happens I have to keep gettin the s478 stuff b/c we know that it works. I've given them sooooo many options on hardware configurations and showed the cost/performance vs what we use now; hell I even ordered a E6300 and an Intel board capable of handling it just so I can SHOW him the difference. But I don't want to use that when we can get the other LGA775's so cheap right now.
