Are RMClock and NHC safe to use for newbies?

I would like to play with RMClock and Notebook Hardware Control to control the CPU power features of a new Core2Duo/Vista laptop, but am wondering whether these program make any changes that persist after exiting the program and restarting Windows.

I know with hard drives, there are settings you can permanently change (like APM and AAM) without relying on a program to do it for you every time you boot up. Do I have to worry about this with RMClock and NHC? Or can I safely mess around knowing all the changes I make will be gone after quitting the program?

Not sure about NHC, but RMC is fairly foolproof. Once you close RMC out for good, all settings are removed.

I'd leave the advanced options alone (they probably aren't needed anyway). RMC limits the max voltage to something like 0.05v or 0.10v over the stock value, so I wouldn't worry about damaging the CPU.

I use it on my AMD laptop to throttleback and save battery power. It works great.
