Are Ridata 8X DVD-R good they come in red shrink wrape, the guy at the store said they are good but I just want to make sure ?

If you look at the specification of the disc; if it uses G05 dye; it'd be good. The G05 dye is the newest dye. There's another one but I forgot its name.

Even G04 dye would be good enough.

It is OK at best. I have an NEC ND-3520A and used 100 pack of RIDATA 8Xs, with no problem, and I cannot remember having any coasters. However, the burn times were not the best 10 mins at best and 13-14 at worst. Then I bought some FUJI 8Xs, which happened to be Taiyo Yudens, and they burned at 16X, without any input on my part, in under 6 minutes. Also, the feel and the thickness of the DVDs were completely different. FUJIs feel like they are a lot better quality. So RIDATA might be decent , but you get what you pay for.

I've only used Ridata discs on my Plextor - never had any coasters. The discs also seem to play well in set top DVD players. I'd recommend them to anyone.

ok thanks guy's, as far as coasters go the only time I ever had them is when there has been something wrong with the discs them self and then it has been most of the spindal that had problems with them, but my main consern if they play good in Stand alone DVD players, alot of cheaper media skip and freeze in stand alone DVD players, but are good for only computer use.
