I dont mean cooking something, just warming something up maybe 200 degrees?

Would a regular ceramic plate crack or is it safe?

I dont have any of the original packaging or anything where I could read about it.

Depends on the quality. Cheap ceramic can crack, however, most dishes will easily survive 200 degrees so you should be fine.

I don't trust ceramic plates to eat off anymore at room temperature...

200 degrees is really not that much. I keep pizza warm in the oven with the card board box at 175...

Oh, yeah it didnt really warm up my food much, which was taken out of the fridge. Guess 15 minutes a bit too short at that temp with cold food. Oh well at least the plate didnt crack!

what kind of dishes do mexican restaurants use? they always come out @ 2000ºF but at least they always warn you it is a "hot plate".

They are oven safe usually.

Also keep in mind if it's not labelled as such the paint may also out-gas / become toxic at high temp.

Most if not all ceramic wares should be able to handle 200F, because the lowest food safe glaze melt at 1800F and porcelain glaze can be as high as 2460F. That said, not all clay bodies or glaze are designed to handle big temperature change, therefore it may not be wise to shock your dishes, unless it is designed to tolerate temperature shock (such as putting 450F plate full of hot liquid into the freezer & vice versa).
