Are RAM sinks helpful?? (on a GeforceMX card)

I've heard both position's on this one...

1. That RAM chips don't generate enough heat for it to matter!
2. They'll help you get that extra 15Mhz out of your RAM!

which is correct assuming I'm overclocking a GeforceMX?

Personally I would not bother. I dont think its worth the time and money to o/c a mx card. If you must o/c it just try it without the sinks and get the most you can from it :)

well i dont know how well the ram heatsink can help you to overclock the mx card. But i am overclocking my mx card to 210/360 (ddr) without a ram heatsink. Emm...maybe with ram heatsink can let your card last longer, i dont know..just guessing ...but you do need a better fan to let you have higher core speed.

actually a core overclock for a MX yields very little, to no, gains... its the RAM speed that really affects its performance!

Compare the results of Anand's Memory Overclock vs. Core + Memory Overclock
There is no difference between running the MX's core at 175Mhz ~ 220Mhz! With or without the memory overclocked!

I can only get my Memory up to about 195 right now... so I'm wondering if I get some RAM sinks I could hit 220

edit: actually a core overclock does help a little in 16-bit color... but who uses that anymore ;)

well wat i can say is , why not give it a try ? But alot of ppl can overclock the ram to 210 without ram heatsink..... beside that myself are overclocking the ram to the max. 360 ddr. My opinion is , maybe by using ram heatsink can let your card last longer :p

RAM speed has almost nothing to do with heat generation and almost everything to do with capacitance. so RAM sinks are pretty much worthless.
