Are quality memory modules that important?

bleh, they're just trying to sell some overpriced ram. Not really an overclocker, so if you are definitely get the higher priced ram, but for those running at Default speeds HeatSpreaders and Price x2 RAM is a waste of $, IMO.

quality ram is definitely a must, even if you don't OC. i know plenty of people that have been burned by bad/faulty generic ram.

I guess the answer depends on an individual's definition of what quality is. I don't OC but I have always used the cheaper VR type from Muskin, Crucial, Corsair and Kingston. I've only had one problem and that was with a new stick of Crucial. IMO all of the manufactures I mentioned make quality ram, even for customers like myself who don't always go for the high end line. As far as no-name junk... I wouldn't touch it at any price.
