Are Pistachios FOTG? Pole!

Yes they are extremely good.

I eat quite a bit of them a couple of nights per week with beers while watching TV eps.

They are getting awfully expensive. I used to be able to get a 1 LB bag at Walmart for $4 + tax. It went up to $6. Then I found a 14 oz container for the same price. Good enough. Then they dropped that size to 10 oz, making the more expensive 1 LB bag a better deal. At another store I've found a 1 LB bag for $5.50 which is best I've found.

What in the world makes them go up so much? They were always expensive to begin with. And the Walmart here doesn't have the bulk containers of them on the floor that you put into your own bag (cheaper than prepackaged).

One time I was buying a different kind and got the unsalted ones. What a bunch of fail that was. 🙁

Before the Iranian revolution Iran used to be the largest supplier of pistachios to the US. Since then California has taken their place, I believe.

I love pistachios, but the last couple times I've gotten them I've found a worm in one of the shells, and I can't bring myself to eat them anymore. 🙁

yes, except it's so fucking hard to find good pistachio ice cream.

The only brand I found that was consistently amazing stopped making it due to low demand for it. I asked what the minimum demand was and I would meet it, they weren't interested. I don't even eat ice cream all that often but I would have given it away to people just so I could have a bowl every now and then. Fuckers.

if you have any indian grocery stores around you, look there. pistachio ice cream (kulfi) is very popular in India and those stores import it from there. I get my mango and pistachio ice cream from my local indian store
