I was big into this game about a year back but stopped playing as the demands of the semester grew. Now I was thinking about picking it up again. Are a lot of people still playing?

I play everyday. There are about 800 servers and theres a brand new patch comin out end of july that will be adding medics and tons of stuff. Its going to include tons of new stuff.
 
I would if they would fix existing issues instead of creating new ones every patch. Sound hasn't worked since 1.6 or 1.7 came out so I pretty much stopped playing then. Now they switched to SCI servers which has SUXKED like nothing has every SUCKED before. Although, to be fair, the SCI servers are a little better than they were at the switch point...still mostly unplayable, but better.

I'm hopeful that 1.9 will correct many problems and I can play again. I have 3 characters that I'd love to use again.
 
I've got no problems with the current servers I usally ping around 110-80ms. Otherwise its a really fun free game.

i can't play at home anymore, some freak thing happened and i can't play

it kicks me out everytime i play, no matter which PC i use

i can play at work (well, just to test, not for any amount of time) so i know my account isn't banned or whatever

it sucks, i really like the game, but either TW cable is dorking me or i am just cursed 🙁

I dunno about your problem with the servers...i ping 40-80 on mostly every server on the east. For the sound problems, who knows but 1.9 with the new interface, some new code and medics will probably fix it for sure.
