Read all about it.

From his office in Nevada, entrepreneur Dennis Hope has spawned a multi-million-dollar property business selling plots of lunar real estate at $20 (£10) an acre.
Buyers include Hollywood stars, large corporations - including the Hilton and Marriot hotel chains - and even former US presidents Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter. George W Bush is also said to be a stake holder.

Mr Hope claims to be selling 1,500 lunar properties a day. He allocates land by simply closing his eyes and pointing to a map of the Moon.

"It's not very scientific but it's kinda fun," he says. It is fun that has already made him $9 million (£4.5 million)

That's it, I'm claiming the Sun as property of SSSnail, Inc. All usage of the Sun should now be ceased. You will have to send checks for the charge back of all the warmth that you've been using so far, damn free loaders.

Damn... I'm pissed I didn't get in on this thing earlier. :(

Hmm... I wonder who's enforcing title on these things anyway? How could he stop me from selling the same plots?

old old old news.

None of that obviously will hold up in court. It is a good conversation piece as long as the guy isnt serious about it when he says he owns acres of land on the moon. It is something you frame and put up in your living room.

I'm sure people don't think they're gonna be building a house on their moon property any time soon. It's just fun to have a certificate.

Or...are you asking, "Are people really this dumb [that they believe the story and make threads about it]?" Then well...I guess you just answered your own question :p

Dumb as in making this guy $9 mil... That's a lot of certificates he has to sell.

The story is believable, absolutely. Why do you think I just claimed the Sun as my own? I will now use the natural resources off my new found property to start an energy company that runs solely off selling solar energy; not the equipments, just the enerty (you'll have to come up with the equipments on your own). I'll call it SunRon, and SSSnails shall rule the Earth.

Suppose I can understand a hotel line doing it, as every hotel eventually has their eye on a space motel of sorts, but otherwise, yes most people are dumb.

In that case, shouldn't the moon belong to the USA? :D ;)
