Are people really paying $350+ for Nintendo Wiis? They don't seem that hard to get, my local wal mart has had 10+ just sitting there for the past 2 weeks and they just got another 15 in.

If Nintendo would have been able to keep a good stock of them about 4 weeks ago, they would have had much higher sales for the Wii than after christmas.

I went to all the retails the days before Christmas and asked for the Wii but no go. You know it is bad when Sams Club didn't have them.

I would never ever pay over the MSRP for anything. Never have and never will.

Wow, people are still listing them on craigslist for $350-400. I wonder how long until that dies down.

Was Nintendo's rain check program not well publicized, or people just don't care?

Everyone wanted one by Christmas, and didn't want to wait.

My coworker has bought a total of 13 of them just to sell all of them but 1 on Ebay. They have all sold between $400-$600. He has made over $3k in profits he said.

Hmm, I bet he included remotes/games in order to sell at $600. In the past 2 months, the consoles alone hardly went past $400 (excluding shipping).

My parents did. They're retired and bored out of their minds, so they like to buy dumb crap. They bought a ton of games too, but all they play is Wii sports. They also thought it would be fun if they had a Wii to bring over to my house on Christmas so the family could all play. Too bad when my Dad went to unhook it from his tv to bring it over to my house he slid their plasma back and the frigging stand rolled over the sensor cable and sliced it in half.

I'm not 100% sure what he did include, I know a few had some extras. But, he said what made a huge difference for him was paying the extra cost to keep them on the first page, those sold for a lot more according to him.

I'm sure the rain checks sold out within minutes.

I'm surprised most retail stores don't have a limit per customer. Amazon had a limit of 1 Wii per customer, I think they still do.

lolrus. ask the wii profiteers how much they made :D

A guy on another forum I frequent made a whopping 10k over 2 months. Straight pro status riding around in a crew of like 5, pillaging stores of their stock everyday. amazing.

re: Bateluer

Amazon's limit is 3 per household. 99% of stores are limit 1 per customer. So people go with themselves + SO for 2, or themselves + friends for 5+

I've heard of whole FAMILIES going Wii hunting.

It seems like the stock of Wiis is not distributed very well... some areas have plenty while other areas are sold out all the time. Nintendo should have taken a better look at spreading their stock according to population density. There is no need for a Wal-Mart in a small town in the middle of Kansas (sorry leglez, I grew up in Wichita) to have a ton of Wiis while they are scarce in big cities such as Chicago.

All it needs is an infrared sensor. You can put to IR remote controllers up there and it will still work.

Man, if we had some around here I'd pick them up and slang em on eBay for a nice profit. Unfortunately, there's none around and there's no way I'm selling mine (Wiikey ftw).

$250 MSRP

$250.00 msrp plus tax is around $271-280 in most places.

So, for the convenience of not having to wait in line, one spends about 80 bucks or so for one, sometimes less. Doesnt seem like that bad of a price to pay imho.
