If I made a thread that asked the question "Are parodies of parodies funny?" would you find it funny. </thread>

If they're done right, yes I think they're hilarous. I'd say I laugh at about 40% of the ones done here. I seem to recall parodies from earlier when I joined as being better.

Or, if you REALLY dare, a few "Are parodies of parody threads that parody parody threads funny?" threads.

I wonder how long it would take the mods to lock one of those?

If I'm online, not very long.

The problem with parodies, and even worse yet, parodies of parodies is that everyone thinks they are more cute than the last guy and we end up with an whole front page full of crappy, unfunny threads trying to out-do each other.

I for one don't like them, most are unfunny, and the rare few that actually are clever and well written. I probably didn't read the original it was a parody of and I still don't find it funny :)

the other day I read a thread about some Vegan who was pissed their roomate used their new crock pop to make a roast. A few minutes later I stumbled upon the original threat. I still didn't laugh at the parody but at least I understood it was a parody.

too many ATOT'ers think they're funny and they're not.

A parody has to be very clever and make a poignant and perceptive statement about the original thread in order for me to consider it funny. And if not that, if it is just making fun of the original thread, it had better do a good job of it, otherwise it is just stupid. All the parodies I have read on this forum almost seem like they are written to mock without any real creativity. I am guessing that the same people who write the parodies here are big fans of recent SNL stuff.
