Are old typewriters completely worthless?

My Mom has a few typewriters collecting dust in her apartment. I have been nudging her to get rid of them. The Olivetti is not as old and I figure is only good for scrap metal. She got it from her job. There are 2 Underwoods that look really old. Are there any typwriter collectors out there that can give advice? She has a lot of clutter and junk at home. There also is an old Kotex dispenser that I was gonna put on FleaBay, but who would want it? It came from a Women's public bathroom and dispenses individual Kotexes for a nickle. It weighs a ton. Whaddya think? Her home is full of a lot of junk and I wanna help clear it out, but she won't budge. If I could sell them, maybe she'd part with some of it. Is there a market for this old stuff?

Do they require electricity to run? A typewriter might be handy if you need to type a paper and your power goes out...

Then again, ink ribbons might be hard to find if the machines are quite old.

They are good to fill out forms and/or carbon copy documents. Other than that, they are worthless for practical use (assuming you have a computer).

some people collect type writers, but only the OLD ONES are worth anything (manual all the way).

type writers are still useful since carbon copies are often used in business, but then dot matrix printers do the same, that is carbon copy compatible.
