It's been years since I've run Windows on bare metal in my house. I've got an XP install virtualized for random test cases, but it's rarely booted. Now, I've got an itch to play some games so I'm looking to install Windows 7.
I'm a cheapskate though, especially knowing that I won't be booting this very often. I found a guy on Craigslist who is selling Windows 7 Pro COAs, except that they come from HP systems.
If memory serves, the product key will be tied to an HP machine and can't be used on anything else. Is that correct? Or am I way off base?
