Are nVidia fans load controlled?

Do the fans on nVidia cars (the 6600GT in particular) get faster as the temperature of the chipset goes up?

if you install an app

most of them don't do it by default, I found a app from gainward and im using it to control my evga 6600gt now

It depends on the manufacturer really. My guess would be that the more expensive manufacturers (eg. ASUS) would have this function on their cards. But the cheaper brands would probably drop this feature to keep the cost of the card down.

Are Asus cards even any good? I noticed that their usually higher priced but seldom see or hear of anyone using them.

no, all 6600gt cores have a temp sensor. some companys just disable it but theres a hack to enable it again

OK, yeah cuz I could have sworn that my Asus card slowed the fan down when the card was idle. So now I gotta figure out how to hook my v700 up to it. :)
