ive been using a 19" samsung lcd for awhile, and its been easy on my eyes due to the .294 dot pitch, i recently tried out a 2005fpw and find the .258 dot pitch almost unbearable for long periods of time. i use a 18" at work with a dot pitch of .28 and its still fairly comfortable but about as small as i like to go, 2405fpw comes monday and is .27 dot pitch so perhaps it will be passable ... but may end up going back like the 2005fpw.

no monitor larger than 19" to my knowledge has a dot pitch over > .27

increase your font size.

i tried that, but for web pages, they do not render properly, also things like winamp etc.. other programs do not behave properly to this.

i did the windows display -> general -> dpi change from 96 to 120

hold the control key and mouse scoll up..then press control 0 to get it back to normal

and here i complain about 19" 1280x1024 being too fricking big and able to be seen from across the room.

hell, the pixels on the 2005fpw are way to ginormous for my liking.

i like a dpi of about 110.

i like 1280x1024 @ 19" 🙂

does anyone who uses 1600x1200 or 1920x1200 adjust there font size to compensate, have you been happy?

im certainly going to give it a shot on the 2405fpw, i think the 2005 seems too short for me so that may have been some of the reason i did not like it. besides that its a great monitor if you have the eyes for it 🙂

Argh... with my CRT dying, I'm trying to figure out what LCD to think about getting, and threads like this don't help any.

well if it helps, a 19" lcd with a native rez of 1280x1024 will be the easiest on your eyes, short of a lcd tv

That's kinda what I plan on, but I keep seeing different things about the latency and the way it's rated. If it wasn't for the GF, I'd just buy another CRT and be done with it.

also play around with the dpi settings like members recommend, im still trying out different dpi numbers

You guys have terrible eyes, and I say that and my left eye is totally fu cked, it can't focus after barely a metre.

Yet I have no trouble seeing text on a 1600x1200 15.1" laptop LCD.

smaller dot pitch is a mark of a higher quality monitor..
all good monitors will have a low dot pitch..
high numbers are bad..

my 5 year old 19 CRT is .24 and its beautiful at 1600x1200

i dont adjust for small fonts

well low dot pitch is also a sign that at standard dpi setting in windows, things will appear to be smaller. coupled with the fact that alot of applications are not friendly to DPI changes, it can cause problems for some people.

I'm happy on a 2001FP at 1600x1200...don't know what the dot pitch is there.

I'm 19 w/glasses...I'm sure it'll become more painful as time goes on, lol

edit: my dpi is adjusted to 105
