Are my temps safe and which is true?

This is my recent attempt in overclocking a socket939 (I know it's dated but still good I think)
DFI NF4 SLI DR
Opty 165 @1.5v 330x9~2.9ghz
2x1g pc4000 crucial ballistix @2.9v 270mhz
LDT volt = 1.5v
NB volt = 1.7v
OCZ powerstream 520W
2x36g raptors in raid 0
PCI video card (trying to get 8800gts 640mb)
Antec P160 2x120 fans (1 front intake, 1 rear exhaust)
Thermalright slk-948 with thermaltake 90mm fan


Temps as you can see in this pic seems kind of hot. Problem is, speedfan temps are different from smartguardian when running orthos after about 5min. At idle they read the same.

Any help/input is appreciated.

The temps are a little high, but I think that you are still on the good side(barely).

56 Degrees is a bit high, my 4000+ at 2.8 doesn't get above 48 @ Load. Make surethe airflow in your case is good, and also you might try reseating the CPU. If all else fails, don't worry too much about it. But cooler is always better.

I don't worry about mid 50s with my Opty 165 when in Orthos test mode. High 60s is too warm IMO. I still use the stock AMD HSF, so I'm at 2.6GHz and stock volts. If I remember correctly, the 165 operating range is up to 65 degrees. Mine will hover right at 54 degrees while running dual Orthos, and hits 48 degrees while playing BF2. So, the only time I hit the 50s is in testing. As for which is the correct temp reading. Hard to say. Probably the only way to know is to stick a quality sensor right next to the CPU.

1.5 v seems like alot... can the Opt 165 handle that? If so i might be willing to push mine further. right now its a 1.425 (but the MB is set to -0.025v) and after vdroop is 1.375v. I wanted a 2.6 GHz Oc but that is just not possible with vdroop and i didn't want to push more volts through my opty.

1.5 to 1.55 V for a Toledo core, like the Opty 165, is the upper range. It might shorten the lifespan though.

I read that 1.5 should be okay if you are on air. I ran my opty 170 for 1+ year @1.5v with no problem. Just kind of watch your temp!
