I've recently started using Core Temp and noticed that the temps are high! :Q

As per my sig below im running a Q6600 at 3.06GHz and its been running at that speed for over a year now without a problem.

Ive recently started to do a bit of folding@home (using CPU & GPU for research) and Nvidia System Monitor says my CPU is running at 41 degrees but Core Temp is saying around 61,60,57,58 for the 4 cores, does this seem high? It seems to be stable enough, ambient temp is around 27 degress.

Also the Nvidia system monitor says my graphics card is running around 81 degrees and its very hot to touch, is this normal would you say on full load?

Thanks for any replies, just want to check if im worrying about nothing!

Not sure about your CPU, but 80ºC for a video card in full 3D gaming load is perfectly fine.

Anything in the sub-60 degree range under full load is perfectly fine. You're not in any real danger until you hit 75C+

Cheers for the replies, I tried an SMP client for folding and it put the temps upto 70 degrees on the CPU so I scrubbed that, I think my case cooling could be better at the 8800gtx on full whack is like having a small heater in there!! I will sort out my case cooling first I think.... :)

Case cooling is exactly what I was going to recommend. Make sure you have good airflow through the case and keep everything as organized as possible (drives, cables, etc) to allow proper airflow.

Have bought an Antec 902 case now (highly recommended) and absolutely straining the crap out of the CPU I don't see any temps over 54 degrees and 75 for the GPU :D

Silly thing is the Antec 902 has all fans set low and its very quiet and cool where as the 4 x 80mm fans on full whack in my old case was very noisy and hot!
