Hiya,
I replaced my crappy generic DDR2 and my p5b vanilla mb today with a gigabyte p35c-ds3r and 2GB of Crucial Ballistix 4-4-4-12 DDR2. I adjusted the usual bios settings, set my ram timings to their default 4-4-4-12 and upped my FSB to 400. I didn't need to give my cpu any extra voltage and it's totally stable under orthos etc, at 3.2. My cpu is an e6400 I bought around the time the core 2 duos came out. So I am pretty happy.
I'm using a Scythe Infinity cooler. Only question is my temps, my chip is idling at 40c and under the full orthos load sits at 59-60c. Is this safe ? I figured my temps should be lower with the cooler I am using, maybe it is my crappy Antec slk3000 case.
Or perhaps I should try re-seating the cooler ?
Just wondering if these temps are safe and I am okay to keep running as is, or if I should try a re-seat of my heatsink or cut back on my OC. I found it weird as I am not giving my cpu any additional voltage.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Cheers.
