Are my fps in Quake normal?

I have 72 on 1024x768 High quality 16bit 16bit
and 54 on the same resolution just with 32bit colors.(ran the timedemo 1)
When i run UT i get 78 at the same resolution for 16bit but
i get 75 on 32bit why is there a speed drop in Quake 3?

Q3 has 2 32 bit options - one for rendering, and the other for textures. Running q3a in 32 bit rendering does not decrease the performance all that much. However, running in 32 bit texture mode takes up about 2x more texture memory, and really makes a bit performance hit.

Unreal, on the other hand, only support 32 bit rendering (for particle effects and such)... however unreal only uses 16 bit textures, meaning there is no option to get the textures to be displayed at 32 bit. that is why q3a can run much slower if you turn on both 32 bit options, but unreal is hardly effected.
