Agreed.

BULLDOG COME OVER AND FIX MY COMPUTER...ITS RUNNING SLOW.

AWW SH*T....

:: downloads a free AV, spybot, ad-aware, winsockfix, and some other crap ::

:: thinks this is going to take forever ::

:: thinks some more ::

:: kills all DL's ::

:: replies to email requesting "fix my computer" with Schadenfroh's website ::

Seriously, though, I must have done this half a dozen times by now. Your site is great. I just point people to it and it saves me car trips. Generally now at worst all I have to do is walk people through the scans on the phone.

Fvck those people. Honestly.

Change your name. I can't even pronounce it.
A guide for a fresh install of windows and say the top 10 most commonly used programs would rock. Then I could send people that link too. It would cut my car trips down by another 30%.

Good work.

BlackViper.com has a frame-by-frame guide to Windows Setup. I have a guide for the security aspect of a fresh Windows install (link), and I've just modified it to point to Schadenfroh's antivirus review where the antivirus part comes in. Having multiple free and pay-for options, with some very relevant observations about the user interfaces etc, is going to help the noObs 😎

As an aside: Schadenfroh, one of the companies whose product was featured in the roundup has a section in their EULA about not publishing detection benchmarks without prior consent by that company. The company, whose name you can figure out if you're reading this, is the type that might throw their weight around, so keep that in mind. I know you didn't do the detection tests yourself, but you might take some splash damage 😱

I appreciated your little review alot, & started using AntiVir because of it.

Keep up the good work! 🙂

I think your review could use a little work and a spell check. I think that you should categorize your reviews into sections such as "Interface" and you should have hotlinked your phrase "worst possible interface" to the actual image of the interface (I completely agree that the interface is ugly as sin). Now, does the 3rd party skins alleviate this issue? I think it would be worth noting whether the program can look good under any skin or whether all the skins are pretty much equally crap.

Your review also reads very fragmented, IE:
"Performance: Consumes a total of 30.112MB of RAM and uses 4 processes. Takes minutes 28M 18S to do a full system scan on my system. I think we can say that this program should be called aslow. Boots in 1M and 7S. "

This does not look very professional. Try to replicate what you would expect to see from an AT review here.

- Method used for tracking performance
- How many processes the program uses at idle / bootup
- How many processes the program uses during a scan
- How much (peak / avg) memory the program uses during regular use
- How much (peak / avg) memory the program uses during a scan

Also, I would spell out your timing: 28 minutes 18 seconds. I would also avoid the aslow comment.

As far as their forum goes? Retards, the whole lot of them. I would expect more from the self proclaimed professionals. The fact is they fear a negative reviews such as yours.

Keep up the great work Schadenfroh. Gotta run to a meeting.

Of course, telling a person to visit a website with a Windows Setup guide, when they only have one computer, is kind of useless. They can't very well browse the site while formatting the hard drive. 🙂 And having them try to remember it....well, some people still never are sure, "Right click or left click?" and where to use which. Or what the difference is.
But still, it's a good resource to have.
