The common denominator in all the people you engage with is you. So either you're like the modern day Yossarian, or you purposefully associate with crazy people, in which case either it means you're supremely insecure, or you are crazy yourself.

No. I would say "most people" are not nuts.
Unfortunately when you post on a public internet message board you have to deal with more nuts than on average.
In my real life I don't deal with nearly as many nutters. Most people are sane.

Did a marketing study that showed a person with negative feelings towards a company will effect 5x as many people as a person with positive views of a company. Same can relate to crazy people. They leave much more of an impression than normal people.

I'd have to say if by "nuts" you mean "abnormal" then yes, everyone is nuts, if by "nuts" you mean "have mental health issues" I'd say no. If you mean "nuts" by some other definition then you'll have to let me know.

Everybody is insane by nature but all different in some way. It comes with the territory of having free will and a mind of your own. IMHO the Roman Catholic church understood this wrong when they had the doctrine that all humans are evil and that Christ died for the sins of all humans. When born, humans are almost blank and without intent to hurt anything. But the human mind is still in development and is very volatile in nature.

That is why humans have a system. A social system that from birth starts to learn you and train you how to behave. From culture to culture it is a bit different but generally it is surprisingly like the ten Commandments(western Christian culture) if you have "good" people around you :

Honor all your loved ones, family and friends alike.
You shall use your ability to learn from your mistakes wisely.
You shall think before you act and continue thinking while executing.
You shall not kill/murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not lie.
You shall help those in need.
You shall not judge while unknowing.
You shall have respect for all life even for your food.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s "belongings" and only think of what you need.

And yes , "you shall learn to count" should be in between as well.

You'll need to define "nuts", and include in that definition your metric for determining whether or not someone is nuts.

However, judging by your avatar you're American. The largest American city by population, according to Wikipedia, is around 8.2 million. The number of people on the internet is roughly 361 million (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm). Number of people in the world is roughly: 6.8 billion (currently alive. OP didn't specify time period under consideration). Assuming no one in NYC uses the internet, that puts an upper limit of 370 million people you would interact with. Meaning that at most you've sampled about 5.44% of the population. You don't say what you mean by "a large portion ... are flat out bonkers" so we'll assume that a leprechaun rolls a loaded die to determine whether or not any particular person is bonkers. Now, if we assume a standard normal distribution with µ = Charlie Sheen and σ² = Stefani Germanotta then we emphatically conclude as irrefutable fact, that most people are human.
