It's just the mobile chips that are in laptops instead of desktops. As far as the differences or advantages, I'm not sure. Power consumption maybe?

power consumption is basically equal...about 10% increase clock per clock and 64-bit instead of the core duo's 32-bit

where does it show that...if he's asking for merom, wouldn't u think he's trying to upgrade a core duo processor?
