Are men supposed to get tummy tucks?

I was talking to a friend of mine and he has lost a lot of weight and has a lot of extra skin around his abdomen. He is considering getting a tummy tuck to get rid of the skin and help it actually look like he's not fat anymore.

Is this common? I've never heard of a man getting a tummy tuck...

Why not? He's got all that excess skin there that won't go away on its own.

Those overlapping slabs of skin must be sweaty and uncomfortable. If surgery can fix it, do it.

You really have to after losing that much weight, it doesn't matter if your a man or a woman.

No, he should not until he is at a point where happy with his body composition.

That means, when he has changed his lifestyle and achieved a weight and muscle amount that he will want to *maintain* for the rest of his life.

Removal of excess skin after weight loss is called a panniculectomy. Both sexes frequently get it because that excess skin tends to rub and get sores and infections and so forth and it is not a lot of fun.

Insurance companies frequently do them because it actually is more cost effective to have surgery than it is to deal with infections and shit.
They also play for thigh lifts for similar issues.


Tummy tucks are Abdomnoplasty. It is similar but not exactly the same.

I have actually recently been in on both surgeries. I'm currently doing a Plastics turn.

we sort of do. part of a tummy tuck is re-approximating the recti muscles which bring the abdominal wall in tighter.
