Are Memorex CDs _that_ bad???

As I see it, the Imation deal loses every time... however, it costs more!
How would you explain this? Is the Memorex brand much worse than the Imation brand?
I'm stumped.

My memorex 700mb's wont play on my sony car cd changer. Kinda crappy since I had a spindle of 30. Next time, Sony or Kodak for me!

Yes. Imation is not great but Memorex is suck. I have never had a single Memorex product that worked properly. I will never buy another product sold by Memorex.

All of my memorex CD-Rs work great (I had a spindle of 50, and now a spindle of 100 ), and I just got some of their 700MB CD-RW's that work well for me as well (backup purposes...speaking of which, I still need to do the january backup...hrm, its almost March. I must do this )

Taiyo Yuden manufactured CD-Rs (Made In Japan) are THE BEST.

Usually Fujifilm makes those.

I normally like to use Fuji, but I recently went through a 50 spindle of Memorex and I've had no trouble with any of them. Can't say the same about Imation, the only "faulty" cdrs I've ever used were Imations.

I have 80 Memorex (700MB) CD-Rs at the moment. I've never had any problems with Memorex before, and I doubt I will now. The other brand I've had good results with is Maxell... Excellent CDs. Any others are iffy. Verbatim I've seen good and bad ones. Sony and Kodak, same deal...

I'd have to agree. I bought a 10-pack of the 80min CDRWs last Fall and of the 10, three have become unusable(?!) and refuse to be read or formatted by my drive. Does anybody else put out 80min CDRWs?

I've never had good luck with Memorex CDs, they've always been crappy for me. I stick with Fuji (Taiyo Yuden) or Kingston CD-Rs.

It's interesting to read about the different results people are getting with Memorex CD's. It makes you wonder about the impact of other variables, i.e., software used to burn, burner make and speed, operator error, etc.

(FYI: I've burned my way through 200+ Memorex CD's and never had a problem with them.)

Well, I have always bought Memorex CD's in the packs with the jewel cases. Recently I decided to purchase a spindle of 50 Memorex 16X 700MB CD's. Overall I have not been happy as it seems maybe 1 out of every 5 CD's can not be read by my AOpen burner. I never had probs with Memorex CD's until I purchased the spindle.

I recently read a review on CDR's and it found that Sony CDR's were the best. So I think I will go with Sony from now on.

I've been using Memorex CD-Rs for quite a while now. My TDK VeloCD12/10/32 isn't picky about any CDs so I usually buy Memorex......partly cuz I like the look of the CD and makes writing on the CD itself easier than other CDs.
