Are LCD monitors horrible for gaming?

I just bought a Hyundai LCD TFT 17" monitor for my new computer, but I've been hearing lately that they are really bad for gaming...

Is that true?

Some are. What model did you buy?

It's an Image Quest L70S...

The screen looked really good at Fry's, but then again it was only showing the desktop on screen.

That model has 70 reviews at Newegg. It seems like it will be a good choice for games.

I thought LCDs were supposed to be the new big thing???

Why the hell did I pay $200 for it if games will look crappy on it?

EDIT- hey thanks man, I'll look at some of those reviews.

That's why you do research before you go out and buy the cheapest monitor you can find.

The 1801 had a great price/performance ratio but it's not being sold anymore (the original), I bought a 2001 for $650 and wouldn't trade it for the world. No ghosting at all.

I dont know how this monitor will be for gaming. I looked briefly and didnt find what its response time was. 14 and below is what you would idealy want.

I have a viewsonic vx 910 and love it for games.

should be fine. at least its 16ms response time and not 25, thats where lcds are no good for gaming. i have the l90d+ with 8ms and i love it. a lot of purists will say stick with the crt but i'm very happy.

heres their product page btw

I just looked at the reviews, and almost every one of them is positive. They say it's great for games. Sucks for everyone who paid $300+ for a monitor!

Well I haven't tried it out yet because I haven't gotten all my parts together for my new computer, but judging from all the reviews, I think I will be satisfied.

Thanks UsandThem, I never would've thought to look on newegg.

yes their reviews are very well done

anyway, you'd be better off with 12 and under response time, but as long as you're happy with it....
