Are K&N filters worth the money?

The one for my Durango is 50 bucks . . . would I be better off just dropping another couple of hundred on a new intake?

Well, instead of buying a new one everytime you change it you could just clean this one. However they have the tendency to allow more foreign bodies into your intake than a paper filter would.

They are with turbos

I own a 1989 saab 900 turbo and with the K&N it spools up faster and you can really hear the turbo.

I don't know about NA vehicles.

I doubt it does much but this is unfounded.

I could be wrong...but I always thought K&N filters were used by folks who already modded intake, exhaust etc. I don't think putting a K&N filter in an all-stock setup nets any significant benefts...

Air filter? Paper filters catch more particulate than oiled-cotton filters, although I don't really know how this will affect the life of your engine.

You'd be better off getting a FIPK. The performance gains are to be seen to be believed. Just putting a filter will make some improvement - obviously dependant on make/model etc. But an FIPK will make a very noticeable difference.

Been there - done that - both ways & v happy with the FIPK.

K&N filter on a stock vehicle is not much good. It can be cleaned and re-oiled and re-used, saving money from buying a new filter.

On a modded vehicle it is recommended.

I use the 14" x3 " drop base filter-charger and it easily outflows any stock paper element. It traps more dirt than paper too.

I have a 2000 Rodeo, bought mine from Autozone for $35.00. I have noticed a difference in acceleration and gas milage. Well worth the initial cost.

I have a 93' Camry - I'd like to avoid paying to replace cheap air filters if I can just wash it. So is that FIPK one good then?
